The Finance Ministry says that no decision has been made to suspend the import of non-essential luxury items including televisions, mobile phones, refrigerators, etc.
Dismissing recent media reports that the government had decided to suspend the import of non-essential luxury items, Finance and Treasury Secretary, S. R. Attygalle said the Ministry has not made such a decision.
According to the Secretary, news reports of a new ban on imports are completely false.
