No prior knowledge of Easter Sunday attacks- U.S.

24 Apr 2019

According to the American Ambassador, the United States of America had no prior knowledge of the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka despite local claims. “I can tell you definitively we were not warned and we did not have any prior knowledge of this,” Ambassador Alaina Teplitz told the Associated Press. However, she declined to say whether U.S. officials had intelligence on the local extremists and their leader who allegedly carried out the assault. Further, she stated that America remained concerned over the militants at large and added that FBI agents and the U.S. military personnel will assist Sri Lanka in its investigations.
