NTJ Organizer detained for 72 hours

The Police have been permitted to detain a suspected member of the proscribed National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ) organization for a period of 72 hours for further questioning. Mohamed Farouk Mohamed Fawaz, the Colombo District Organizer of the above-mentioned organization was arrested by the Keselwatta Police and was produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court today (29). The Colombo Chief Magistrate, Lanka Jayaratne was notified by the Police that Fawaz was an expert of using electronic devices and that he would have contributed to production of the explosive devices. Meanwhile, reports state that the police had also uncovered mobile video footages recorded by Mohamed Fawaz at the sites of explosions after the attacks took place on Easter Sunday.
