Education Minister Professor G.L. Peiris today said that their objective is to create a mechanism to reopen all schools in the Western Province within two weeks.
The Minister said this while participating in a media briefing held in Colombo today.
"We have seen a 59% turnout of children and 88% turnout of teachers after the reopening of schools on 11th January. This shows that students and teachers are enthusiastic about returning to school. Currently, an atmosphere where schools can be reopened is being created in many parts of the Western Province," he stated.
