1850 - John Wisden bowled out all ten batsmen in the second innings of the match between North and South at Lord’s. It’s the only instance of an all-bowled ten-for in a first-class match. In all, 30 wickets fell and 25 of them were bowled. Of the other five, three were run out

1938 - Kent’s 23-year-old Arthur Fagg became the first man in history to score two double-centuries in a first-class match when he cracked 202 not out in two hours and 50 minutes against Essex in Colchester. He had already made a five-hour 244 on the first day, including a century before lunch. In February 2019, Sri Lanka’s Angelo Perera became the second, making 201 and 231 in the same match for NCC against SSC

1976 - Birth of Dinuka Hettiarachchi, former Sri Lankan Test all-rounder. He was a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler. He was a leading wicket-taker during his domestic career which spanned from 1994-2019, playing mainly for Colts CC. In 234 first-class matches, Hettiarachchi took exactly 1,000 wickets to be the third Sri Lankan to achieve the landmark after Muttiah Muralitharan and Rangana Herath

1995 - An innings of spellbinding brilliance from Aravinda De Silva for Kent in the Benson & Hedges (B&H) Cup final against Lancashire. Kent eventually lost by 35 runs. De Silva struck 112 off just 95 balls, including three sixes and 11 fours for Kent

2000 - A world-record rugby attendance of 108,874 saw New Zealand beat Australia 39-35 in Tri Nations match at the Sydney Stadium, Australia. Each teams scored five tries with Andrew Mehrtens’ goal making the difference in the end

2013 - 18 people are killed and 47 are injured in a riot following a boxing match in Indonesia. Violence erupted outside of the ring of Kota Lama Sport Stadium in the town of Nabire is only set to hold 1,000 spectators. However, 1,500 boxing fans were crammed into the arena after tickets were oversold
