Once he is released from jail: Becker could be kicked out of UK

05 May 2022

Boris Becker could be kicked out of the UK after serving his prison sentence. The German, jailed for bankruptcy fraud, has lived in Britain since 2012 but will be considered for deportation as he does not have British citizenship. Foreigners sentenced to more than 12 months in prison could be kicked out of the UK as their expulsion “is deemed to be conducive to the public good”. A source has told The Mirror in the UK yesterday (5): “Boris always said he would get citizenship but never did. Criminals from overseas can be deported if their sentence is serious enough. Boris is likely to be considered.” At earliest opportunity In 2015, Becker, 54, said he enjoyed living in West London and was going to apply for British citizenship. The dad of four had told the BBC that he and his family “love Wimbledon a lot (and) people treat us with respect”. But it is believed he never made the application and is not “naturalised” in the UK. The Home Office said: “Any foreign national who is convicted of a crime and given a prison sentence is considered for deportation at the earliest opportunity.” To serve half of prison term Becker won six Grand Slams including his 1985 Wimbledon title which he won at the age of 17. He also won the event in 1986 and 1989. Last week, he was sent to HM Prison Wandsworth for two-and-a-half years. It is believed that he will serve half that term. HM Prison Wandsworth is a Category “B” men’s prison at Wandsworth in the London Borough of Wandsworth, South West London, England. It is operated by Her Majesty’s Prison Service and is one of the largest prisons in the UK. Becker’s estranged wife Lilly, 45, this week revealed she had to tell their son, Amadeus, 12, his “papa didn’t listen to the law and he’s on the naughty step”. He hid Rs. 1 billion The star, who attended the trial with partner Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro, hid more than £ 2.5 million (Rs. 1 billion) in cash, shares, and property when he was made bankrupt in 2017. BBC pundits claimed his £ 38 million (Rs. 16.9 billion) tennis earnings had been swallowed up by a divorce and “expensive lifestyle commitments”. After going bankrupt over an unpaid £ 3 million (Rs. 1.3 billion) loan in 2017, Southwark Crown Court heard he should have declared all assets to independent trustees who would distribute them to creditors. Not declaring property However, he had almost £ 1 million (Rs. 446 million) in a business account that he used as a “piggy bank” for personal expenses. Jurors heard he quickly transferred more than £ 350,000 (Rs. 156 million) to nine recipients. He also failed to declare a £ 1 million property in his home town of Leimen, a £ 700,000 (Rs. 312 million) loan, and £ 600,000 (Rs. 267 million) in shares. Lilli Becker breaks silence Becker’s former wife Lilly Becker broke her silence this week after the tennis ace was sentenced to jail. Speaking on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show on Tuesday (3), the Dutch model said she completely “broke down” at the sentencing and spoke of how the former Wimbledon champ was bearing up in prison. Lilly told Piers that Becker is “doing ok and as good as he can be”, before quipping that jail “is not exactly a five-star hotel, is it?”
