Despite initial claims that 80,000 LP gas cylinders could be distributed daily in the next couple of days, the number of cylinders that could be distributed daily has been reduced to 8,000 cylinders per day, it is learnt.
According to Government sources, poor weather conditions have resulted in the LP gas not being transported via the gas pipes to the distribution centre and instead the LP gas has to now be transported from the port via lorries.
"This means that the estimated 80,000 cylinders which could be filled in a day has now reduced to only 8,000 cylinders a day," the source explained.
