Army Commander General Shavendra Silva today stated that even though it may seem to the other parties that the vaccination process is not done properly, the health authorities and the National Operations Center for the Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) is making every effort to ensure that the vaccination process is done in a methodical and effective way.
He stated that the vaccination process was underway and that under the President's instructions, the vaccination process is done in such a way that it would be completed by September.
"The procedure from the beginning was to vaccinate everyone over 60 while focusing the vaccination process in the areas with the most Covid patients, called "epicenters"," he stated.
The Army Commander stated that the goal was to eliminate the rising number of deaths while reducing the spread at the same time.
He stated this participating at the 'Ada Derana Big Focus' programme.
