When I took up the position as the Minister of Agriculture, the Opposition MPs thought I would fail in my duties, but I have proved them wrong within the last 2 weeks alone, says Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera.
He made this statement while speaking in Parliament today (21).
"2 weeks ago the Government was unable to obtain fertiliser, but I ensured that by the 6th of July, 65,000MT of fertiliser will be arriving into the country and this will be used for the Yala harvest. For the Maha season another stock of fertiliser will arrive. MPs must not stir panic amongst the people because I have done the needful. It is because of me being in the cabinet we managed to achieve this. This is a victory for me," said Amaraweera.
He further mentioned that he will be doing his duties to the best of his abilities and will ensure that the citizens of Sri Lanka will be provided with the required fertiliser to ensure that nutrition levels do not drop amongst the people.
