A total of 3,108 persons have been arrested in a special police operation conducted islandwide on Saturday (13), stated Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today.
The operation had been conducted from 06 to 10 pm on Saturday, and 16,524 police officers had participated in the operation.
Accordingly, 1,112 persons on warrants have been arrested by the Police, as well as 454 drunk drivers. 469 persons were arrested for offences of narcotic substances while 523 suspects were arrested under offences of the excise ordinals.
