PAFFREL receives 628 complaints related to presidential polls

People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has received 628 complaints related to presidential polls from the period of 27 September to 13 November. These complains are in relation to 672 Electoral Law/ General Law Violations. Of them, 60 are related to Acts of Violence, and 68 incidents of Electoral Law/ General Law violations. PAFFREL said in total of 31 hospitalizations have been reported to date. (There can be multiple election/other law violations in regard to one incident.) Meanwhile, PAFFREL has urged Facebook to take measures to control and mitigate Facebook-related campaigning during the 48 hours (cooling period) prior to the Presidential Election. The PAFFREL said according to the election laws in Sri Lanka, all political propaganda activities must cease 48 hours (cooling period) prior to the election.
