04 Nov 2020

The Academy of Health Professionals yesterday (03) brought to attention that the PCR machine given to the Kurunegala base hospital has remained unused for the last two months, owing to the disinterest of the specialists. "The PCR machine was donated to the COVID laboratory in the Kurunegala base hospital by the Kurunegala Coconut Company. However, no specialist has made efforts to calibrate the machine and put it to use. After being neglected for two months it has been resent to the Kurunegala Coconut Company," Ravi Kumudesh, President of the Sri Lanka Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists told the Morning. The Academy of Health Professionals requested the Health Ministry to look into the matter and make sure the equipment brought down has been put to use.
