The National Organization of the Rights of Pensioners is to launch an Island-wide Sathyakgraha campaign from 8th July.
Convenor of the Pensioners' rights body Mahinda Jayasinghe said the Sathyakgraha campaign will be launched in respect of their demands to withdraw the suspension of the revision of their pensions, with effect from January 1, 2020.
According to the Public Administration Circular 03/2016 issued in 2019, the pensions of the public employees who retired after January 01, 2016, were to be increased.
However, following a Cabinet decision on 2nd of January 2020, public administration circular 35/2019(I) was issued noting that the Public Administration Circular No 35/2019 dated 10.12.2019 was suspended , until the pension anomalies of all the pensioners are resolved as per the new Government Policy.
