‘Respirone Nano AV99’ face mask manufactured by the University of Peradeniya to prevent spread of COVID 19 was launched in Kandy yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Trade Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said that Sri Lanka should manufacture new foreign exchange earning products that will benefit not only the country but the entire world.
"The present government has the distinction of being able to reap the benefits of free education by becoming doctors and professors and to be able to create such products locally, regardless of the impracticality of Westernization," he said.
The Minister also spoke about the unique change that has taken place in the field of innovation in the country and how it is now possible to properly change the structural imbalance between employment and the knowledge required for it.
