The Sri Lanka Police and the Agriculture Ministry are currently engaged in discussions to shift several police divisions to the controversial private building, D.P. Jayasinghe (DPJ) Tower in Rajagiriya.
The DPJ Tower located at No. 288, Sri Jayawardenepura Road, Kotte is owned by the husband of popular cinema actress Sabeetha Perera.
Speaking to The Sunday Morning, Police Media Spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne said the legal, crimes, and media divisions of the Police Department would be shifted to the Rajagiriya building which was leased out initially by the Agriculture Ministry.
However, according to him, no final agreement has been reached yet by the two parties.
“The premises where the three police divisions are currently situated would be renovated soon and during the renovation period, the Police is looking at the possibility of using this building,” he said.
The building was initially leased out to be used as the office of the Agriculture Ministry. However, soon after the new Government came into power, the Ministry was shifted from the Rajagiriya building to its old premises in Battaramulla.Police to shift to DPJ Tower?
