Pillayan and two more State Ministers sworn in for a total of 27

  • Pillayan gets Rural Road Development; Suren Raghavan’s portfolio changed to Higher Education 
BY Buddhika Samaraweera Three more State Ministers, including Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) Leader Sivanesathurai Santhirakanthan/Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan, were sworn in before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Tuesday (19), bringing the total number of State Ministers to 27, according to the President’s Media Division. Accordingly, Sathasivam Viyalanderan has been appointed as State Minister of Youth and Sports, Santhirakanthan/Chandrakanthan as State Minister of Rural Road Development, and All-Ceylon Makkal Congress MP S.M.M. Muszhaaraff as State Minister of Handloom and Local Apparel Products Promotion. In addition, the portfolio of newly appointed State Minister of Education Services and Reforms Dr. Suren Raghavan has been revised, and he is now the State Minister of Higher Education. On Sunday (17), a total of 24 State Ministers were sworn in before President Rajapaksa. On that day, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, was appointed State Minister of Defence; Rohana Dissanayake as State Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government; Arundika Fernando as State Minister of Plantations; Lohan Ratwatte as State Minister of Urban Development; Tharaka Balasuriya as State Minister of Foreign Affairs; Indika Anuruddha as State Minister of Housing; Sanath Nishantha as State Minister of Water Supply; Siripala Gamlath as State Minister of Mahaweli Development; Anuradha Jayaratne as State Minister of Irrigation; Sisira Jayakody as State Minister of Indigenous Medicine; Prasanna Ranaweera as State Minister of Industries; D.V. Chanaka as State Minister of Tourism and Fisheries; D.B. Herath as State Minister of Livestock; Cader Masthan as State Minister of Rural Economic Crop Cultivation and Promotion; Ashoka Priyantha as State Minister of Trade; A. Aravind Kumar as State Minister of Estate Housing and Community Infrastructure; Geetha Kumarasinghe as State Minister of Culture and Performing Arts; Gunapala Ratnasekera as State Minister of Co-operative Services, Business Development, and Consumer Protection; Kapila Nuwan Athukorala as State Minister of Development of Minor Crops Plantation; Dr. Gayashan Navananda as State Minister of Health; Dr. Seetha Arambepola as State Minister of Education and Technology; Vijitha Berugoda as State Minister of Ports and Shipping; and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National List MP Diana Gamage as State Minister of Transport.
