During the Parliamentary sitting held yesterday, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana mentioned that the administration of Covid-19 vaccines for children above the age of 12 years with diabetes and other chronic diseases would commence on the 24th of September at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH).
The vaccine for children with diabetes and other Chronic diseases in other areas of the western province would be administered on the 27th of September at LRH , and an island-wide vaccine administration for children above the age of 12 with comorbidities would commence on the 4th of October.
The vaccine of choice for these children is the Pfizer vaccine.
