Plans to extend quarantine period of inbound passengers: Health Ministry

30 Apr 2021

The Ministry of Health says that there are plans to extend the quarantine period for people coming to Sri Lanka from abroad. Dr. SM Arnold, Deputy Director General of Public Health Services at the Ministry of Health, said that this would help in identifying infected people from abroad. "The quarantine period for foreigners is likely to increase in the future," he said. "We are working on that now. The aim is to get the time needed to identify an infected person from a foreign country during the quarantine period. ” Dr. SM Arnold said that if the public did not comply with the Covid control guidelines issued by the health department, travel restrictions would have to be imposed island-wide.
