PM assures Rs. 1,000 daily wage for estate workers

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today (5) assured that arrangements are currently being made to pay the proposed daily wage of Rs. 1,000 to estate sector employees.
Rajapaksa assured in parliament that the Rs. 1,000 daily wage will be paid from 1 March.
According to the Prime Minister, the plantation companies have agreed with the government's decision in principle and arrangements are now being taken to make the payment from next month.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last month said the daily wage of estate sector employees would be increased to Rs. 1,000 from March 1, 2020.
