Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday launched the ‘Preksha’ insurance scheme introduced for the artists in the field of stage drama.
Accordingly, a payment up to Rs. 200,000 will be made in case of a death of a family member, Rs. 600,000 in case of accidental death, Rs. 400,000 in case of permanent disability and Rs. 300,000 in case of critical illness.
At the launch, the Prime Minister also said that he is pleased to help uplift the lives of artistes by providing a loan of Rs.500,000 at a concessionary interest rate.
