Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinge will be undertaking an official visit to the Maldives on 2 September 2019, upon an invitation extended by Maldivian President Ibrahim Solih, the Prime Minister's office said.
During the visit the two leaders will review the existing bilateral relationships, explore new areas for cooperation, and discuss inter regional and global affairs concerning the two countries.
The Prime Minister will also chair this year's Indian Ocean Conference which will take place from 3-4 September at the Paradise Island Resort, Maldives.
The Indian Ocean Conference is organized by India Foundation in association with the Government of Maldives and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Singapore, under the theme 'Securing the Indian Ocean Region: Traditional and Non-Traditional Challenges'.
