Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has requested the leisure and tourism stakeholders in the country to focus on developing hotel schools before building more hotels.
"Before you build hotels or hotel rooms, you must build hotel schools. Because at the end of the day it depends on the services, not the cement, the concrete or decor," he said on Wednesday.
He was addressing the 53rd Annual General Meeting of The Hotels Association Of Sri Lanka (THASL) at Shangri La hotel.
Wickremesinghe pointed out that Sri Lanka was not developing its services and its cuisine at present and simply focusing on increasing the number of hotel rooms in the country.
