PNB to interrogate Madush

21 Jul 2019

The Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) is preparing to further interrogate Sri Lanka’s most-wanted drug lord Samarasinghe Arachchige Madush Lakshitha alias “Makandure Madush” this week. PNB Director T.C.A. Dhanapala told The Sunday Morning that PNB officers had questioned Madush earlier but on basic information.
However, Dhanapala said the in-depth interrogation over his connection to drug trafficking in Sri Lanka would be conducted by the PNB this week. The drug lord Madush was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) when he arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) after being deported from Dubai. Madush and 30 others including several others involved in organised crime were arrested at a party held at a luxury hotel in Dubai by the Dubai Police on 4 February on charges of possession and use of drugs. Among them were notorious underworld criminals and drug traffickers “Kanjipani Imran” and “Keselwatte Dinuka”. Madush fled the country after the murder of the former Southern Development Authority Chairman, Danny Hiththatiya in 2006.
