Police announce travel guidelines to be followed from tomorrow

DIG Ajith Rohana today laid out certain measures to be followed, when public life and office work resumes tomorrow (11). According to DIG Rohana those who are reporting to work must carry staff IDs. He further noted that the public must carry documents confirming they were requested by their superior/ head of the workplace to report to work or a message on WhatsApp/ Viber / SMS or email confirming the same. He said to avoid traffic congestion in the morning hours, public staff transport services must leave before 8.30 am  in the morning. While Private staff transport services must leave between 8.30 am and 10.00 am in the morning. He advised that after work hours,  public staff transport services should leave offices in the time period between 3 pm to 4 pm , while private staff transport should leave in the time period between 4 pm to 5 pm. Public servants and private workers using public transport are not subject to these conditions. He said private vehicles cannot be used unless required permits are obtained by the police. Three-wheelers, Uber and Pick Me and other cab services are allowed to be operated from tomorrow. The maximum number of passengers allowed in a three-wheeler is two, while the maximum number of passengers allowed in Uber/Pick Me services is 3. DIG Ajith Rohana noted that ready made food outlets selling tea, fruit juices and other food items will not be permitted to operate until further notice.
