The Police are awaiting the post-mortem report on the male body found with gunshot wounds near Independence Square today, Police Media Spokesperson, SP Jaliya Senaratne said.
Senaratne speaking to The Morning said the Police currently suspects the victim may have committed suicide.
"Investigations into the death are underway. We have not ruled out any other causes. We are currently awaiting the post-mortem report."
He said a pistol and letter suspected to be the victim's was also found near the body.
He said the victim a 64-year-old, was a resident of Milagiriya.
