Police confused over identity of missing boys

The 2 young boys aged 10 years and 12 years who went missing in November 2021 have supposedly been found in Meerigama, The Morning learns. Whereas speaking to media personnel at the Police Media Unit, it has been learnt that the Sri Lanka police is yet to confirm if it was indeed the missing boys that have been found. "We have found 2 boys around that age at the Meerigama junction inside a small shop. The boys had arrived to buy some food. Currently, we are still investigating and confirming with the families if the boys that have been found are indeed the ones who went missing from Kotadeniyawa," said the Media personal. He added that the police is further verifying where and how, if incase the boys are from Kotadeniyawa, they had travelled this far and how they have managed for the last 6 weeks without their families. Kotadeniyawa Police had opened an investigation in early December last year, after receiving a complaint on the sudden disappearance of the two cousins. The matter was later probed by the homicide and organized crimes prevention divisions of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Sri Lanka Police had also sought public assistance to uncover their whereabouts.
