Police curfew has been imposed with immediate effect in Kalmunai, Sammanthurai and Chawalakade till further notice following a shootout that took place in Saithamarudu in Kalmunai.
An Island-wide police curfew will be reimposed from 10 p.m tonight till 4 a.m. tomorrow the Government Information Department has said.
Earlier in the day, the police and security forces launched an islandwide house-to-house search operation.
The President today (26) stated that the security forces were on the lookout to round up 140 plus individuals linked to the Easter Sunday attacks.
