An investigation is something that cannot be concluded in a matter of hours and should not be criticised prematurely said Defense Secretary Gen (RETD) Kamal Gunaratne.
He made this statement while speaking to the media yesterday (15), in response to the accusations made by Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith in regards to the CCTV footage of the All Saints church hand grenade perpetrator.
"An investigation cannot be concluded in a matter of hours. Time is needed to conclude a probe. I don' think it is fair to criticise investigations within 24 hours of commencing. We discovered a hand grenade at this location. We have arrested the person who has placed this there, however, there are further arrests to be made in regards to this incident. It would have been a miracle if such an investigation is completed in a matter of hours," he said.
He further added that as the Defense Secretary, he assures the public that everyone who is connected to this incident will be brought to justice and that the police and intelligence services has the capacity to think ahead of the cardinal and carry out investigations.
