The Police have made an announcement today specifying the ethnic backgrounds of the suspects taken into custody following the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
Police Spokesman, SP Ruwan Gunasekera has stated that more than 2000 suspects had been arrested over the Easter Sunday bombings, search operations and mob outbreaks of violence which followed.
Approximately 2289 suspects were taken into custody the SP stated, among them 330 Sinhalese, 139 Tamils and 1820 Muslims.
Of those arrested, the Police Spokesman stated that 423 suspects had been remanded.
