Postal Department enters digitalization, first stamp with QR code issued

Sri Lanka Postal Department has entered digitalisation with the official launch of the issuance of digitized postage stamps. The issuance of digitized postage stamps was launched at the Ministry of Mass Media and Information under the patronage of Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday (16). Accordingly, a stamp worth Rs. 25 with a QR code was issued for the first time today. Further information on or related to the stamp can be obtained by scanning its QR code and accessing the Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts website. Also, a new postage stamp of Rs. 500 with a special security mark was issued under the patronage of Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. Deputy Post Master General Rajitha Ranasinghe stated at the event that a security symbol is hidden in the stamp and if a person misuses it, it will be possible to capture information about it.
