The Postal Department launched a new cash-on-delivery service, which was inaugurated by Minister of Mass Media Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday (16).
The first phase of the new service will see the delivery of parcels under Rs. 50,000 in value.
Minister Rambukwella stated that the existing Value Payable Post service was repurposed into this new local courier service.
He explained that the new service will be deployed through all sub-post offices, and will be managed through a computerised system.
The local courier service will also undergo further development to accept card payments in the future, noted Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne.
