Health workers would be granted the opportunity to cast their vote for the upcoming general election via the postal voting system, The Morning learnt.
Election Commission (EC) Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya told The Morning: “All health workers will be able to use the postal voting system to cast their vote at the parliamentary election,” he said.
He said the key reason for this provision was the fact that many health workers would be engaged in Covid-19-related activities during the election.
The Ministry of Health is set to release the health guidelines to be followed when conducting the parliamentary election under pandemic conditions.
