[caption id="attachment_116584" align="alignleft" width="305"] Pramoda Wickramasinghe is a member of the existing national selection committee[/caption] Former World Cup winning Sri Lanka fast bowler Pramodya Wickramasinghe will most likely be appointed as the chief of National Cricket Selectors replacing outgoing Ashantha de Mel, The Morning Sports learnt yesterday (28). “Three names have already been submitted for the approval of the (Sports) Minister. The name of the Head of the panel has been nominated most likely as Pramodya (Wickramasinghe). One of the other two names is speculated to be of another former Sri Lanka fast bowler Vinothen John,” a source close to the developments at SLC said last evening. John was member of the selection panel on the previous time under de Mel, who resigned as Head of the body on Wednesday (27) citing personal reasons after Sri Lanka lost their Test series against England. The committee was appointed by Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa in December last year. The third member of that was Chaminda Mendis, who is reportedly unlikely to be retained in the new committee. Ranjith Madurasinghe and Uvais Karnain are current members of the national selection committee which holds responsibility specifically on the Sri Lanka Under-19 while Nilmini Gunarathne and Hemantha Devapriya are looking into the selections of the national women’s team.
