Prepared to face Commission probing political victimization: Anura

22 Jun 2020

JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said he was prepared to face the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe incidents of Political Victimization. Dissanayake said he was issued summons to appear before the commission tomorrow(23) over a complaint lodged by Avant Garde Maritime Services Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi. Senadhipathi alleged that his group of companies had incurred significant losses as a result of malicious and arbitrary action taken by former MPs of the Yahapalana government and Dissanayake. Dissanayake claimed the Commission was setup to support corrupt officials but however noted that he was still prepared to face the Commission. He said the officials of the Attorney Generals (AG) Department have also been summoned over Senadhipathi's complaint. "It is a joke to see officials of AG's Dept. questioned over Senadhipathi's complaint. The AG's Dept. was the the plaintiffs of the Avant-Garde case." He said what was required was a commission that would probe corrupt officials and investigate as to where they have hidden money that was siphoned from public funds.
