President had to drag Range Bandara for event

By Tharindu Chathuranga President Maithripala Sirisena had to drag State Minister of Irrigation and Water Resource Management Palitha Range Bandara for an event in Polpithigama today as the State Minister was not keen to attend it. The President had taken a helicopter to Polpithigama to inaugurate the construction work on the Wayamba Ela Phase II. The project diverts water from the Mahaweli river to farmers in the North Western Province. Sources told The Morning that State Minister Palitha Range Bandara, who was invited to attend the event, had turned it down. Bandara had been dejected saying that as State Minister he had very little responsibilities and was mostly sidelined. However, according to sources, the President had personally spoken to the State Minister and took him by helicopter to attend the event.
