President Maithripala Sirisena today requested the United National Front (UNF) to submit an amended no-confidence motion on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the cabinet to Parliament tomorrow.
The President had requested the UNF to omit ‘clause 1’ of the no-confidence motion and to resubmit it to Parliament.
The President had also requested that the vote be taken by name of the MP and not by voice as was carried out yesterday.
He made the request when he met party leaders in the UNF, the leader of the opposition R. Sampanthan and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at the Presidential Secretariat this evening.
