President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has today (19) declared that he would contest for a second term in office.
The President has made this observation during a meeting held today with owners of media institutions.
This observation comes at a time when there's much speculation in the local political arena on the governing Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna's (SLPP's) next presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Kingsley Rathnayake stated on his official twitter handle that the President mentioned in the meeting that he had 5 more years to implement his policies.
