Presidential Commission appointed to streamline Sri Lanka Customs

A Commission has been appointed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to study the current situation at the Sri Lanka Customs Department and to make recommendations to increase it productivity, the President's Media Division said. It said the Commission has been mandated to make recommendations to increase efficiency of the Customs Department by preventing irregularities. Supreme Court Judge Shiran Anthony Gunaratne has been appointed as the Chairman of the Commission. The other members of the Commission are; Court of Appeal Judge Priyantha Fernando, High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte, CBSL Deputy Governor K M M Siriwardana, Senior Consultant (Trade) Dr. Sanath Jayanetti and former Customs Director General P. A. Dias.
