Sri Lanka's forthcoming Presidential election will cost over Rs. 4 bn, the Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said today.
He said the cost has increased due the record number of candidates who came forward to contest the presidential elections.
6 out of the 41 candidates who placed their deposits for the presidential polls last week did not hand in nominations today.
The Election Commission confirmed 35 candidates will be on the ballot for the 2019 Presidential polls set for the 16th of November.
