06 Oct 2020

Health measures that had previously been relaxed in the parliament are to be strictly adhered to from today (06), Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando told The Morning. Therefore, sanitary cubicles are being fixed outside the Parliamentary premises, with security checking the temperatures of all staff, media, officials and parliamentarians. Everyone inside the premises is expected to wear a face mask at all times, and to maintain a one meter distance from each other. Parliamentarians have also been asked to wear a face mask when addressing Parliament. In addition, they have been requested to use their personal belongings, and if they do use Parliament property, to sanitize them before and after use. “The Speaker of the Parliament will inform everyone at the Parliament premises to strictly adhere to health guidelines from today,” he further stated.
