Prez considers appointing Special Committee to look into gas cylinder explosions

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is considering appointing a special committee to look into the investigations pertaining to the recent gas cylinder explosions, The Morning learns. This was confirmed to The Morning by the President’s Media Spokesperson Kingsley Rathnayake today (30). "There have been several suggestions made to the President to appoint a special committee. Because of this, the President has considered appointing a special committee to look into the investigations which are currently underway on the gas cylinders," said Rathnayake. When inquired on who would be the appointees, Rathnayake responded saying that it has not been decided yet, but will be appointed as a matter of urgency as the President wants immediate action taken. Accordingly, it is expected that a Gazette on the same will be issued within the day.
