Prez meets leaders of Ukraine, Bahrain and Nepal

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa met with the leaders of Ukraine, Bahrain, and Nepal today (02), on the sidelines of the COP 26 climate conference in Glasgow. According to a tweet by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the duo had agreed to establish a bilateral intergovernmental economic commission between Ukraine and Sri Lanka. Discussions pertaining to the development of cooperation in the fields of tourism, student education and intensification of bilateral cooperation were also discussed. Meanwhile, Bahrain News Agency reported that President Rajapaksa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain had discussed the steady growth of cooperation between the two countries across various fields and highlighted the importance of continuing to work on strengthening bilateral ties. During the meeting, issues of common interest and ways to strengthen bilateral relations were discussed, as well as the importance of COP26 in overcoming the challenges of climate change. Additionally, Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba discussed deepening the good relations between Nepal and Sri Lanka. Issues related to exchanging cooperation in the field of education and strengthening bilateral culture were also discussed, according to a report by Khabarhub. President Rajapaksa had expressed his desire to set up a 30-bed hospital in Lumbini and wished for Nepal’s goodwill to his proposal.
