Prez orders for expedition of terrorism prevention laws
President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered for the expedition of terrorism prevention laws in the country, the President’s Media Division said.
Sirisena had instructed the Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Security yesterday to speed up the process of amending the rules and regulations and introducing new laws to prevent terrorism.
Following the Easter attacks, a group of parliamentarians prepared and handed over a proposal to the President.
The Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Security is tasked with addressing those issues cited in the said proposal and to look into the necessary legislative amendments and new legislation.
