The committee appointed to study the proposed US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact headed by Dr. Lalithasiri Gunaruwan has today (17) handed over its initial report to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The committee headed by Dr. Gunaruwan includes former Transport Ministry Secretary D.S. Jayaweera, President’s Counsel Nihal Jayawardena and chartered architect Nalaka Jayaweera.
The four member committee was appointed on 1 January 2020 following a Cabinet decision taken on 18 December 2019.
The committee is expected to submit its final report within four months.
