Four primates housed at the Dehiwala Zoological Gardens have become infected with the Covid-19 virus, State Minister of Wildlife Protection, Adoption of Safety Measures including the Construction of Electrical Fences and Trenches and Reforestation and Forest Resource Development Wimalaweera Dissanayake said.
Accordingly, two orangutans and two chimpanzees have contracted the virus.
However, the State Minister reassured that further investigations are being carried out on the matter.
Meanwhile, the two lions who contracted the virus earlier have completely recovered
