The Department of Prisons has informed the Secretary to the President on the protest launched on the rooftop of the Welikada Prison by some death row inmates.
Two death row inmates yesterday launched a protest on top of the roof of the Welikada Prison complex demanding that they be granted a presidential pardon.
The two convicts say if Royal Park murder convict could be granted a presidential pardon, they too should be granted the same.
The Prisons Department further stated that groups of inmates at Boossa and Angunakolapelessa prison have commenced a protest fast in support of the protest carried out by the death row inmates of the Welikada Prison.
