Private companies have been requested by the government to ensure, until September, the continuation of 50% of the total salary or Rs. 14,500 which ever is higher for their employees who have had to stay home as a result of not having work.
Earlier, an agreement was reached between the Private sector employers, employee trade unions and the officers of the Ministry of Skills Development, Employment and Labour Relations that employees would be paid the amount in May and June.
The Minister of Skills Development, Employments and Labour Relations drew the attention of the Cabinet of Ministers on the agreement and extended the agreement from July to September this year.
