The Health Ministry has permitted Private Hospitals to perform the PCR tests to detect the COVID-19 infection.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said private hospitals have been instructed to carry out the tests only on inward patients who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 infection.
Private Hospitals should release test results within 24 hours and cannot charge more than Rs. 6000/= per test, Dr. Jasinghe added.
