An investigation is likely to be launched on IGP Pujith Jayasundara over a transfer order given to Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer Nishantha Silva, the Government said today.
Cabinet spokesman Mahinda Samarasinghe said that if reports circulating that the IGP had said the transfer order was carried out on the instructions of the President then the claim will be investigated as the President had said he never issued such instructions.
The controversial transfer of the CID officer probing key incidents was cancelled by the IGP following pressure from outside.
OIC Nishantha Silva had been involved in the investigations into the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga and attack on journalist Keith Noyahr and was also involved in the investigations into the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth in 2008.Probe likely on IGP over transfer order on OIC Nishantha
