The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) would seek advice of the Attorney General with regard to the remarks made by MP Ashok Abeysinghe, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said MP Abeysinghe has allegedly said that two persons were responsible for the Easter Sunday bombings and that the perpetrators were funded by a person named Nissanka Senadhipathi.
He said six MPs had lodged a complaint with the CID saying that MP Abeysinghe's remarks were false and it could create tension between different communities.
Abeysinghe was questioned at the CID where he had stated that he has no evidence to support his claim.
The Police Spokesman stated that the CID was investigating the reports published on social media with regard to Abeysinghe's statement as well and will be referring them to the Attorney General in order to seek further advice.
